Intelligent Women Are The Heaviest of Drinkers
Are you a female and know you over drink? You can blame that bright brain of yours.
Studies have found that the more clever a women is the more likely she will drink more alcohol in comparison with her peers. While this is also applicable to males, the connection between intelligence and alcohol intake was more present in females.
London School of Economics detailed the fascinating findings of their study to the Daily Telegraph.
If one were to think this correlation is associated with the experience of higher education, such as obtaining a degree, one would be wrong. One would also be wrong if he or she were to think that this relates to operating in intelligent circles or having clever work colleagues.
Satoshi Kanazawa from Psychology Today confirms this by saying, “it is not because more intelligent people occupy higher-paying, more important jobs that require them to socialize and drink with their business associates that they drink more alcohol. It appears to be their intelligence itself, rather than correlates of intelligence, that inclines them to drink more.”
The LSE report found that alcohol consumption patterns were predictable from the results of school tests of children at just 5 years of age. The LSE study followed a sample population of those all born in the same week in 1970.
It was concluded that girls who achieved medium or high results in their scholastic tests, were 2.1 times more likely to drink on a daily basis as adults.
