African Relish is designed to offer individuals and groups a unique opportunity to break away to the Great Karoo, an ancient and pristine part of South Africa to experience local and regional cuisine, up close and personal. We offer cooking vacations and tailor-made master classes with visiting celebrity chefs from South Africa and around the world. Our South African culinary history is multi-layered and full of cultural textures and we celebrate that diversity. Our approach to the culinary experience is simple….demystify cooking and emphasize the the sense of enjoyment, creativity and conviviality associated with food.

We aim to create a holistic culinary and cultural environment that instructs, educates, delights and stimulates the creative, the experimental and adventurous gourmand soul deep within all of us.

Personal
Jeremy Freemantle, a corporate refugee from Cape Town, acquired a deep love for food, its provenance and cultural association, when working at the famous deli, Mr Christian’s in Notting Hill in London in the mid- 1970′s. He gave up his corporate day job in 2007 and moved to Prince Albert in the Karoo to start a recreational cooking school for culinary travelers and foodies to breakaway and spend time cooking and generally relaxing in this pristine environment. Jeremy is self-taught and conducts cooking classes alongside our visiting chefs or with resident chef Simone Coetzee and the team.
